This 12-acre garden in Portland, Oregon, is comprised by eight separate garden spaces representing different styles of traditional Japanese gardening techniques. 2. San Francisco Botanical Garden
In San Francisco, California, you can explore 55 acres of natural beauty and over 8,000 plant species at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. This plant lovers’ paradise boasts diverse collections of rare and ancient flora from around the world. The garden also features thematic environments like the Moon Viewing Garden, which curates Japanese plants and stone pagodas, or the Garden of Fragrance, where you can immerse your senses in some of the world’s most fragrant and unique flowers.

3. Desert Botanical Garden
Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the flowers in this garden are the antithesis of delicate. Desert Botanical Garden covers about 50 acres and it is home to over 21,000 plants of desert flora that boast resiliency and endurance. Hundreds of species of cacti are the stars here. Many of them have brightly colored blossoms that sharply contrast the Sonoran Desert’s cinnamon-red soil. The garden is currently operating under limited capacity, so be sure to book your ticket reservations in advance.

4. Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
Hailed as one of America’s best places to see spring blossoms, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden boasts the Southwest’s largest annual floral festival. Celebrate spring in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by 66 acres of colorful floral displays during the Dallas Blooms festival. Between February and April, Dallas Blooms showcases over 500,000 spring-blooming flowers, thousands of azaleas, and hundreds of Japanese cherry trees.

5. Cheekwood Estate and Gardens
This 1930s estate, with its Georgian mansion and 55 acres of cultivated gardens and expansive vistas, serves the public today as a botanic garden in Nashville, Tennessee. Cheekwood Estate and Gardens was the home of the Cheek family, founders of the Maxwell House coffee brand. It boasts a 1.5-mile woodland sculpture trail and 12 distinct gardens showing off hundreds of Southern native species, including azaleas, trilliums, trout-lilies, Virginia bluebells, a variety of ferns, and a small colony of paw-paw trees. The endangered stinking cedar (Torreya taxifoia) also grows here.
