There’s just something about the carefree and fun feeling you get when riding a bike. The wind in your hair and sun on your face, all make bicycling one of the best activities when on vacation. Bicycling is also a great way to get exercise and at the same time explore the surrounding area. While the mid-summer Palm Springs heat can be a little too much for an all day bike tour, we actually think that the fall season is one of the best times of year to hit the trails. See below for our must-try bike tours in Palm Springs!
Big Wheel Tours:
Big Wheel Tours is probably the largest and most popular guide service in Palm Springs. They currently offer two tour options, the Earthquake Canyon Express Tour or the Indian Canyon Bike and Hike. They also have the option for completely customizable tours suited to any skill level! Both rides offer incredible desert views, rocky canyon riding, and of course, great exercise. Big Wheel Tours has both morning and afternoon options, and you should expect to spend around 4-5 hours per ride!
Social Cycle – Palm Springs:
Great for large groups, Social Cycle is an extremely fun way to see the downtown Palm Springs nightlife! If you’re unfamiliar, Social Cycle is a large 16-seater bicycle that shuttles you to various bars throughout the downtown district! Don’t plan to just sit back and relax though, this bicycle is actually powered by everyone on board! Enjoy the vibes and laugh with your friends as you all work to pedal your caravan throughout town! Most find pedaling to be extremely easy and a great way to socialize. This activity is one of the best ways to spend a weekend evening and to see some of the local watering holes!
Modern and More Bike Tours:
Palm Springs has a storied history as being a place true fans of mid-century modern architecture flock to. In fact, the town’s unique neighborhoods are a great sightseeing tour even if you’re just a casual observer of home design. This is a relaxing way to enjoy an early morning ride with a knowledgeable tour guide who will explain the significant architectural history of Palm Springs. While the tour service itself does not rent bikes, they do have a number of discounted partnerships with local rental shops who can get you set up for your ride!
Self Guided:
Sometimes it can just be nice to head out on your own for the day. No agenda and no time limit; just you, your bike, and the wind in your face. If this adventure sounds more like you then you’ll be happy to know that Palm Springs has a plethora of public bike paths for you to explore.
